Yes changing your name will affect your VIP status, it will be updated ASAP.

It would be much safer to add the battlelog link or the GUID instead of the name to make it perhaps dynamic I would say. But that's your call of course :)

I just changed my origin name (soldier name) and wonder if my VIP status will be affected in any way?
EDIT: I'm getting queued and cannot join the server with my new name. I would like a refreshment on my status!
